CYA Releases CYA HOTBackup File Manager Supporting EMC Centera to

Provide Documentum Customers with a Cost-Effective Storage Solution

for Backup

CYA Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of business continuity and secure collaboration software products, today announced the integration of CYA HOTBackup File Manager with EMC Centera Content Addressed Storage (CAS) Solution. CYA HOTBackup File Manager now enables organizations to migrate files generated by CYA HOTBackup from primary direct-access storage devices to EMC Centera, a scalable, cost-effective, self-healing storage system designed for long-term storage of fixed content.

CYA HOTBackup, CYA's flagship product, backs up and restores the electronic assets and business processes stored in the Documentum ECM platform from Documentum, (NASDAQ: DCTM) the leading provider of enterprise content management (ECM) . CYA HOTBackup backs up Documentum repositories, while the application is "live" without denying user's access; resulting in steady productivity, enhanced user support, lower total cost of ownership and accurate audit trails for enterprises. CYA HOTBackup produces backup sets on disk, and these files are then moved to tape through traditional backup software. To alleviate the time-consuming restore from tape, CYA HOTBackup File Manager provides an automated interface to market-leading storage solutions, including EMC Centera, the leader in Content Addressed Storage.

Elaine Price, president & CEO of CYA Technologies, said, "We have shared an excellent relationship with EMC for several years. With EMC's recently announced agreement to acquire Documentum, we are looking at new ways to leverage our relationship to benefit EMC, Documentum and CYA clients. EMC Centera offers unparalleled scalability and integrity for unchanging digital assets that must be retained for long periods of time, making it ideal for CYA HOTBackup File Manager. The combination of these technologies enables customers to reduce total cost of ownership."

Roy Sanford, EMC Vice President of Content Addressed Storage, said, "EMC Centera is the world's first storage solution architected specifically for the unique management and scalability requirements of fixed content. For customers using Documentum and CYA applications, Centera integration means they can further improve the storage infrastructure, increase service levels, and reduce management overhead associated with traditional backup options."

"CYA is longstanding and trusted partner with Documentum in delivering mission-critical backup and recovery solutions for our joint customers," said John Magee, vice president of corporate product marketing for Documentum. "CYA's proven approach to supporting heterogeneous, multi platform environments powers our relationship, and complements our vision of managing and storing all types of content."

CYA HOTBackup File Manager, Documentum and EMC Centera - How they work:

Customers using the Documentum ECM platform, EMC Centera and CYA HOTBackup File Manager solution gain an end-to-end solution for managing and protecting their enterprise content, while ensuring business continuity.

CYA HOTBackup's power lies in its unique ability to quickly restore a content object and its relationships into the production repository. No other backup/restore application can perform this type of application-aware restoration. The speed of the restoration of objects is predicated on CYA HOTBackup sets being available on disk. Over time, some organizations may find it prohibitive to keep all of their CYA HOTBackup backup sets on disk.

One solution is to backup older CYA HOTBackup backup sets to tape, using traditional tape backup. Using tape backup introduces a time-consuming process for restoring older objects whose information resides on tape as opposed to disk.

The optimal solution is to move CYA HOTBackup backup sets to EMC Centera, instead of tape. This disk-to-disk (D2D) solution is achieved using CYA HOTBackup File Manager and EMC Centera. Through CYA HOTBackup File Manager features, older CYA HOTBackup backup sets are moved to the Centera cluster, freeing up primary storage, and ensuring the ability to quickly restore an object without the time consuming process inherent in tape backups.

Additional features of CYA HOTBackup File Manager include:

-- Execution of the CYA HOTBackup backup set migration process on

a scheduled basis

-- Specification of configuration parameters for CYA HOTBackup

backup set migration, retrieval and purge operations

-- Identification of files within the CYA HOTBackup backup set

that are candidates for migration

-- Deletion of CYA HOTBackup backup set files from primary

storage once they have been successfully copied to long-term

storage
