CURRENT TECHNOLOGY FORMS MEDICAL PUBLISHING COMPANY; SALES WILL REPRESENT FIRST OPERATING REVENUES

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Current Technology Corporation (NASDAQ: CRTCF) reported last January on the formation of CTC Communications Corporation, a publisher of medical magazines for the Canadian medical community. CRTCF has 65-percent ownership of the publishing venture, with the 35-percent balance owned by four experienced medical/publishing experts. Current Technology's chief executive officer, Anne Kramer, also serves as CEO of CTC.
The initial publication is Dermatology Times of Canada. CTC Communications obtained the publishing rights to Dermatology Times of Canada from a leading U.S. publisher of medical magazines. In consideration for the rights, the U.S. publisher will annually receive 7.5 percent of the net revenues or not less than $20,000 (US). The company estimates revenues will be about $400,000 (Cdn) in 1993.
The Premiere Edition was published in early February and generated gross advertising revenues of $69,265 (Cdn). CRTCF reports that they expect to publish eight editions in 1993 and 12 monthly issues in 1994.
The magazine will first be distributed in Canada to dermatologists and general practitioners, and later may be marketed to the European and Asian medical communities. CTC Communications also has the ability to obtain additional medical titles directed at different medical specialties.
"We are very excited about the formation of this publishing company," stated Kramer. "First it creates operating revenues for the company which, in turn, will augment efforts on our core business of ETG Therapy."
Current Technology Corporation is the developer of "ElectroTrichoGenesis" or ETG Therapy, a treatment for common baldness. The ETG Therapy device has recently completed Phase III clinical trials in males.
