CTF gets wireless communications channel.

ISLAMABAD -- The Counter-Terrorism Force (CTF) of the capital got a call sign (a channel for wireless communication) a year after its creation.

The call sign is one of the most important and effective tools of communication for the police.

A police officer said the CTF officials used their mobile phones and the call sign of the police operation wing for communication.

The police wings such as operation, traffic and security have different signs to communicate. A logbook is maintained about messages sent through the wireless system.

'Earlier, police officers responsible did not take the matter professionally and seriously so the CTF worked without a call sign and a control room for the wireless communication,' the officer said, adding there was a shortage of space and tools to establish a control room and equipped the CTF officials with wireless sets.

A space for the control room was selected at the CTF headquarters and the same was established there. Besides, sets were also arranged for the personnel.

'In future, the CTF control room at the headquarters will be renamed as the urban control room after establishment of another control room at Bhara Kahu that will be called CTF rural control room,' the officer said.

The CTF was established in the light of the National Action Plan (NAP). It started functioning in Jan 2018 with the first batch of 380 personnel.

The CTF was established to curb terrorism and sectarianism. Its responsibilities include collection and dissemination of information, monitor and surveillance the activities of religious seminaries and those included in the fourth schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

In April 2018, the CTF got permission to establish its police station to investigate terrorism cases.
