CSC Wins $47 Million Contract to Support DOL's Federal Black Lung Program

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) has been awarded a contract to continue to provide a wide range of information technology services in support of the Department of Labor's (DOL) Federal Black Lung Program. The contract has a one-year base valued at $12.5 million and is valued at a total of $47 million if all options are exercised over a four-year period of performance.

CSC will provide services supporting the processing and payment of medical and disability payments to approximately 175,000 constituents of the Federal Black Lung Program. Services will include local and wide area network support, automated data processing, system development, testing and maintenance, and project management and administration.

CSC will also assist the Federal Black Lung Program as it migrates from a legacy mainframe system to a more flexible, responsive client-server computer environment. Since 1985, CSC and the Division of Coal Mine Workers' Compensation have worked together in support of the Black Lung Act of 1969 by providing quality service to coal miners afflicted with pneumoconiosis, or black lung disease.

Services will be performed by approximately 60 specialists assigned to CSC's System Sciences Division in Lanham, Md., plus 40 people assigned to Federal Black Lung Program district offices throughout the U.S. Amdahl Corp. of Sunnyvale, Calif., will provide hardware maintenance in support of the contract.
