CRUISE NEWS..

Byline: with Captain Greybeard

It was celebration time this week at the third annual Cruise International Awards. Champagne corks popped as TV's Jenni Falconer presented the trophies in a ceremony at the National Film Theatre.

Congratulations go to Royal Caribbean, named as the UK's best cruise line, and highly commended in four other categories. AHOY: his gong Cunard was named best luxury line, SeaDream Yacht Club is the top specialist, and Disney added the best entertainment prize to a hat-trick of wins as best for families. Fred Olsen was voted best affordable cruise line.

There were awards for Oceania's Red Ginger restaurants and Celebrity's spas. Royal Princess - christened by Kate Middleton - was voted best new ship. On the rivers, Viking came out top, with Uniworld taking the luxury title.

And I can't avoid pointing out that the Mirror's Captain Greybeard was named Best Blogger. Thanks to all my readers and to all who voted for me.
