CROSS POINTE PAPER TO PURCHASE BADGER PAPER MILLS' DAYTON DIVISION

 ST. PAUL, Minn., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Cross Pointe Paper Corporation, the St. Paul-based manufacturer of specialty printing and writing papers, today announced a conditional agreement to purchase the assets of the Dayton Division of Badger Paper Mills, Inc. Badger Paper Mills has announced the closing of this facility. Completion of the sale and reopening of the mill is contingent upon several conditions.
 "This potential acquisition demonstrates our commitment to developing new specialty printing and writing grades," said Robert Touchette, Cross Pointe Paper Corp. president. "Located only eight miles from our existing Miami Mill, the Dayton facility will provide opportunities for Cross Pointe to further serve our customers through additional production capacity and expanded product offerings."
 Headquartered in St. Paul, Cross Pointe Paper manufactures specialty uncoated free sheet paper -- including recycled papers -- at mills located in West Carrollton, Ohio, and Park Falls, Wis. The company also operates an international distribution center in West Chicago.
 Cross Pointe Paper is a subsidiary of Pentair, Inc., (NASDAQ-NMS: PNTA). Pentair is a St. Paul-based comprised of 10 businesses which manufacture woodworking equipment, portable power tools, sporting ammunition, electrical enclosures, automotive service equipment, industrial lubrication systems, material dispensing equipment, pumps and paper.
