CRAY RESEARCH ANNOUNCES THIRD GERMAN UNIVERSITY ORDER

 EAGAN, Minn., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Leibniz Computer Center of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences (Leibniz Rechenzentrum der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften or LRZ), Munich, Germany, has ordered an eight-processor CRAY Y-MP system, Cray Research (NYSE: CYR) announced today. This is the third order from German research institutions in the fourth quarter, 1992, the company said.
 The system replaces a four-processor CRAY Y-MP supercomputer and will be the central supercomputing resource for all universities and research institutes in the State of Bavaria.
 Last month Cray Research announced two other fourth quarter orders from German universities. The Forschungszentrum Juelich GmbH, also known as KFA, ordered a CRAY Y-MP M94 system, and the University of Magdeburg ordered a CRAY Y-MP 2E supercomputer.
