CRAIG CARLSON JOINS CYGNUS AS VICE PRESIDENT CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS

 REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Cygnus Therapeutic Systems (NASDAQ: CYGN) announced the hiring of Craig Carlson as vice president of Corporate Communications. In this new position, Craig will establish a Corporate Communications department with responsibility for strategically marketing Cygnus to its primary audiences, the financial community, pharmaceutical companies and the media.
 Prior to joining Cygnus, Craig worked for 15 years in the advertising field, the last five with Young & Rubicam San Francisco where he was vice president and group director responsible for managing the Clorox, Kraft General Foods, ConAgra, PPG Industries, Idaho Potato Commission and Sun Diamond Growers accounts. Craig received his MBA from Stanford University.

 Cygnus is a leader in advanced transdermal drug delivery systems. The company's primary focus is in the smoking cessation (Nicotrol(R) is marketed by Parke-Davis), hormone replacement, glucose monitoring and consumer products markets. There are more than a dozen products in various stages of development including a proprietary seven-day patch to administer estradiol for treatment of menopausal symptoms and osteoporosis.
