 ATLANTA, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Jerry D. Craft has been elected executive vice president of Wachovia Corporation (NYSE: WB) and named head of the Consumer Credit Services Division. He will continue as manager of Wachovia Bank Card Services Inc. and in addition will have responsibility for Wachovia's mortgage banking and sales finance activities. He lives in Atlanta.
 Craft's banking career began in 1969. He held senior management positions with banks in South Carolina, North Carolina and Maryland before coming to Wachovia in 1982 to lead the credit card function.
 He is a native of Lexington, S.C., and has a bachelor of science degree in management from the University of South Carolina.
 Craft is a former member of the Federal Reserve Board's Consumer Advisory Council; past chairman of the bank card committee of the American Bankers Association; and former member of the board of the Consumer Bankers Association.
 Under Craft's leadership, Wachovia has developed one of the most successful low-rate credit card programs in the country with credit card outstandings of $3 billion. The Sales Finance Division has total loans of $2.5 billion in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina, while Wachovia Mortgage Company services more than $8.8 billion in residential mortgage loans.
