CPAC, INC. AWARDED NATIONAL X-RAY PROCESSING SUPPLY CONTRACT WITH GALEN (HUMANA) HOSPITALS

LEICESTER, N.Y., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- CPAC, Inc. (NASDAQ: CPAK) today announced that its Allied Photo Products division has signed a five year agreement with Galen Health Care, Inc. to become a national supplier for their radiology departments.
Through its established, nationwide medical dealer network, Allied will supply its trademarked autex(R) medical X-Ray chemistry to Galen's 74 hospitals and related diagnostic imaging centers in the United States. In addition to chemistry, Allied will also provide chemical mixers, pollution control systems, waste treatment services and quality control assistance to Galen's healthcare facilities.
Allied President Steven D. Johnson said that the agreement represents a significant increase in chemistry sales for the company, and that additional revenues will also be generated from the sale of pollution control equipment.
According to Johnson, Allied's premium grade autex SE products were selected for quality and consistency.
"In addition to performance," Johnson said, "Allied/CPAC's environmental programs were also critical to Galen's decision to use autex products. "Like all imaging sectors, the healthcare industry is coming under closer scrutiny for environmental compliance. Our agreement with Galen Health Care, Inc. includes a comprehensive new environmental/worker safety program called `EcoRAD' to help them meet both EPA and OSHA worker safety demands."
Mr. Johnson stated that conversions to Allied/CPAC products in the Galen hospitals began in early January, and are now over two-thirds complete. He indicated that chemical conversions will be finished by the end of March, with the EcoRAD systems in place by June 30, 1993.
CPAC, Inc. is a manufacturer of processing solutions and environmental compliance equipment for the imaging industries. Its subsidiary, Allied Photo Products Co., Inc., in Norcross, Ga., produces processing chemicals for medical, dental, and industrial X-Ray applications, as well as the graphic arts and microfilm industries.
