CP&L'S PROJECT SHARE WARMS NEEDY HOUSEHOLDS

RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Money from Carolina Power & Light's (NYSE: CPL) Project Share emergency heating fund is again helping to warm needy households in South Carolina. In its first allocation for this heating season, CP&L has sent more than $19,750 in Project Share funds to counties in CP&L's service area in South Carolina.
This is the twelfth year that Project Share has provided heating assistance to the needy. During this time, the fund has distributed more than $6 million to help heat more than 56,200 homes in the Carolinas.
Project Share funds are available through local community action agencies. These funds pay for home heating costs regardless of the fuel used.
"Many of our neighbors need this assistance to stay warm during the winter," says Emerson Gower, CP&L's Southern Division general manager. "At this Thanksgiving season, we are especially glad to help through Project Share."
CP&L and the Governor's Division of Economic Opportunity absorb all the administrative costs.
Groups and individuals that contribute to Project Share include CP&L employees, customers, shareholders, and civic, church and community groups. CP&L matches all contributions dollar-for-dollar up to $225,000 yearly. For more information on how to receive assistance from Project Share, contact your local community action agency.
