COX JOINS METROPOLITAN FINANCIAL

 MINNEAPOLIS, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Metropolitan Financial Corporation (NYSE: MFC) announced today that William T. Cox has joined the corporation as senior vice president and corporate controller.
 Previously affiliated with Ernst & Young, one of the top six accounting firms worldwide, for nine years, Cox principally served financial services clients including banks, thrifts, trust companies and mortgage banking companies. He graduated from East High School in Duluth, Minn., and with honors from the University of Minnesota in Duluth with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He passed the Certified Public Accountant exam in 1984.
 Cox is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Minnesota CPA Society Financial Institutions Committee. He serves as an United Way Allocations Program Liaison. He lives in Shoreview, Minn. with his wife, Kathleen, and three sons, and is a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Brighton, Minn.
