COX COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF RYSHER ENTERTAINMENT

ATLANTA, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox has completed the acquisition of Rysher Entertainment, the Los Angeles-based production and distribution company.
The company had signed an agreement in principle in late January that was announced at the NATPE convention in San Francisco. The announcement was made by Nick Trigony, president of the broadcasting division of Cox Enterprises.
"In a relatively short time, Rysher has established itself as a force in both domestic distribution and international co-production," Trigony said. "The company has proved it has a solid vision for the future, and we are pleased we will have Rysher as part of Cox Broadcasting."
Founded in April 1991, Rysher already has an impressive line-up of both first run and off-network programming. The company distributes "Saved by the Bell," "Captain N: the Video Gamemaster," "Highlander: the Series," "Prime Suspect," and "The Uptown Comedy Club." Rysher has introduced "Wavelength," "On the Money," and "Okavango" as new projects for 1993-94, in addition to five major specials.
Cox already owns TPE, which produces and distributes "Star Search," "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous," and "Runaway with the Rich and Famous." TPE is a 50 percent partner and handles advertising sales for "Entertainment Tonight." Trigony said the two companies will be restructured to re-define responsibilities and an announcement will be forthcoming shortly.
Cox's broadcasting division includes seven television and five AM and eight FM radio stations, in addition to TPE and TeleRep, a national TV sales rep firm. Cox Enterprises also is a leader in newspaper publishing, cable television and automobile auctions.
