WASHINGTON, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Courtyard by Marriott, Marriott's moderately priced lodging product, today announced the conversion of a hotel property in Washington to the Courtyard flag. The 146-room Washington Courtyard, formerly the Quality Hotel Central, is scheduled to open Dec. 1.
Prior to opening, more than $6 million in renovations were completed, including total refurbishment of guest rooms, pool and garden area and public space including the lobby, restaurant and lounge. The conversion is the result of a franchise agreement and will be owned and managed by Wyoming Hotel Corporation of Washington, a subsidiary of Doyle Hotels of Ireland, that will operate the new Courtyard.
"The Washington Courtyard represents a special undertaking for Marriott and Wyoming Hotel Corporation," according to Todd Clist, executive vice president and general manager of Courtyard by Marriott and Fairfield Inn by Marriott. The Washington Courtyard will play an important role in the Washington, D.C., market."
The hotel, one of 14 Courtyard hotels in the greater Washington area, is offering a special opening room rate of $89, seven days a week (based on availability), from Dec. 7 through Jan. 15, 1994.
The nine-story hotel features 146 guest rooms and one suite and a 60-seat restaurant, featuring breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner menu and a quiet lounge. Other hotel amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, a meeting room to accommodate groups up to 50, a guest laundry and an underground parking facility. Hotel guests can also take advantage of a nearby health club available at a discounted rate.
The hotel is conveniently located near the Smithsonian Museums, the Capitol and the White House.
