COURT INDICATES PATENT TRIAL TIMEFRAME

 MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 20 |PRNewswire| -- Michael Foods, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: MIKL) said today that it received word late yesterday regarding a timeframe for a trial with Papetti's Hygrade Egg Products, Inc. (Papetti's). Last week the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey granted Michael Foods summary judgment that Papetti's has infringed patents licensed to Michael Foods, pertaining to the ultrapasteurization of liquid eggs |Easy Eggs(R)~. The Court also indicated it would send to a jury trial the matter of patent validity and scheduled a conference to determine a trial date. A U.S. Magistrate has now indicated that the trial is most likely to occur in the fall of 1993.
 Michael Foods is a diversified food processor and distributor with particular interests in egg products, refrigerated grocery products, frozen and refrigerated potato products, specialty dairy products and refrigerated soups and salads. Principal subsidiaries included M.G. Waldbaum Company, Crystal Farms Refrigerated Distribution Company, Northern Star Co., Kohler Mix Specialities and Sunnyside Vegetable Packing, Inc.
