COUNTRYWIDE FUNDING PLEDGES $6,000 TO BRING JOBS TO LOS ANGELES;
 TO HOST FINANCIAL INDUSTRY JOB FAIR IN MID-JULY
 PASADENA, Calif., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Countrywide Funding Corp., the nation's largest mortgage banker, pledged $5,000 today to host a financial industry job fair in mid-July to aid young people in riot-torn South Central Los Angeles. As part of Countrywide's "Invest in America's People" program, the company also contributed $1,000 to the Youth Job Awareness Program.
 The job fair is part of the Youth Job Awareness Program, which links companies with prospectives employees from neighborhoods in and around South Central Los Angeles. Designed to help young men and women get and keep jobs, the job fair is open to those 16 years of age and over. At the fair, participants will attend workshops covering topics such as how to dress for interviews, interviewing skills and personal responsibility. The participants will also have an opportunity to meet and talk to personnel representatives from financial institutions. Job seekers must register for the fair by calling 213-351-5420.
 "We invite other mortgage bankers, banks, savings and loans, and other financial institutions to join us at the fair to help bring jobs to Los Angeles and to help rebuild and heal the city of Los Angeles," said Steve Altman, Countrywide assistant director of Human Resources, at a press conference today.
 Founded in 1969, Countrywide Funding Corp. originates and services single-family loans. Headquartered in Pasadena, Countrywide has retail and wholesale branches located in more than 100 cities across the country.
