GEORGE Strait has now achieved his 72nd top 10 hit on Billboard's "Hot Country Songs" chart, thanks to the placing of his latest single at No.10 called She Let Herself Go.

That breaks the tie between himself and Merle Haggard, and moves the Texas Cowboy singer up to No.4 on the all time list.

He is now in fourth place on the list of Country stars with the most top 10s. Ahead of Strait are George Jones, who has 78; and the late Conway Twitty with 75. Eddy Arnold holds the very top spot with a record of 92 top 10s.

HIN an effort to help increase opportunities for America's youth, Kenny Chesney has joined forces with the "JC Penney Afterschool Fund," - a non-profit organisation dedicated to making local afterschool programmes available to all families who need them.

Chesney's new album, The Road and the Radio went on sale for $11.99 at JC Penney stores across the country on November 8, as the "First Gift of the Holiday Season".

For every CD sold, JCPenney is donating all of its net profits to the "JCPenney Afterschool Fund.

H"THE Grand Tour: George Jones Country," will open on December 2 at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. It will include a 14" x 20" black and white photograph of 12-year-old Jones on the streets of Beaumont, Texas, Jones' "White Lightning" black wool Nudie suit, and a George Jones model Martin D-41 guitar with mother-of-pearl "GJ" inlay. Jones was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1992. The exhibition runs until May 2006.
