 Dan Crow
Kids love Crow because he speaks their language. Disguised behind a lanky frame, laugh lines around the eyes and a graying beard is the heart and soul of an 11-year-old boy. It's his uncanny ability to be childlike and reach out and captivate children that has made him one of America's most beloved children's entertainers.
Crow has built a successful 16-year international career as a writer and performer of children's songs. His one-man show is a fast-paced, non-stop, zany experience during which the animated Crow sings, plays with sounds, makes funny faces, imitates animal sounds, tells stories and completely mesmerizes his audiences. "I use humor and silliness in a show, but it's silliness with a purpose," explained this master of the pun. Crow's shows also encourage active participation from the audience, and some songs actually allow children to control the performance. "Because the media is not interactive, I try to create the opportunity to participate and to learn to be an audience," added Crow. "It's good for kids to control an adult's actions because so often they're not in control of their surroundings."
Holding an M.A. in education and communication, Crow began his career as a teacher in elementary schools. According to Crow, he began using music originally to keep his students interested in classroom activities. That eventually evolved into the foundation of his career and today Crow uses his background in education to entertain as well as educate. His songs provide catchy tunes that are fun to listen to and sing along with while offering classic lessons in language and communication skills. His eclectic repertoire includes songs like "Adjectives and Nouns" and "Homonyms" and cover topics ranging from cow kissing to bubble bathing.
Crow may also be one of the most prolific writers of songs for children. He has released eight albums of original songs for children and his classic "Sound Songs" has sold more than 100,000 copies. He has also composed more than 300 songs, 95 of which are published by the Walt Disney Music Company. Winnie the Pooh, Bambi, Dumb, and Milo and Otis are among some of the characters who have crooned Crow songs. He has been nominated for the cable TV industry's prestigious ACE Award for his work on "Welcome to Pooh Corner" for the Disney Channel. Crow's songs have also been translated into five languages and recorded by many children's artists worldwide.
The next phase of Crow's career begins as a new member of the Sony Kids' Music label where he'll continue to share with kids and families the quality programming fans around the world have come to love.
