CORNUCOPIA RESOURCES REPORTS EXPLORATION DRILLING RESULTS

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Cornucopia Resources Ltd. (NASDAQ: CNPGF; Toronto: CNP) reports results of exploration drilling on its Ivanhoe property on the Carlin Trend, Elko County, Nev. In the Hatter Dome area, three holes were completed during the 1993 program. One of these holes, DDH93084, intersected 525 feet of structurally controlled gold mineralization in a shear zone in upper plate Valmy formation rocks along the western margin of the Hatter Dome. The intercept from 1,330 feet to 1,855 feet averages 0.012 oz/ton gold and is an approximate true width. Within the intercept, about 100 feet have assayed 0.020 oz/ton gold or better. Gold mineralization is associated with finely crystalline, black, sooty pyrite, arsenopyrite and bladed barite as are many other Carlin Trend deposits. The intercept is geologically significant because of its width, disseminated style of mineralization and indicator mineral assemblage. A follow-up drilling program is planned early in the 1994 season as there is insufficient lead time to permit additional holes before freeze-up in 1993.
The Newmont Mining Corp. (75 percent)/Cornucopia Resources Ltd. (25 percent) mining venture will complete a 12-hole drilling program on the Silver Cloud and Quiver areas before the close of the 1993 season. Two diamond holes in this program have been completed to date with assays expected shortly. The Silver Cloud/Quiver system represents a 15,000 foot long, northwest trending zone of adularian alteration hosted by Tertiary volcanic rocks. Some anomalous gold values have been obtained from rock chip samples within the area.
The first phase of diamond and reverse circulation drilling has been completed on the company's 100 percent-owned Mary-Drinkwater gold deposit near Silver Peak, Esmeralda County, Nev. Preliminary evaluation suggests this program has approximately doubled the area of the previously reported (1,100,000 tons grading 0.206 oz/ton gold at a 0.060 cutoff grade) near surface resource. A complete resource analysis is expected in the next several weeks. Meanwhile, detailed geological mapping is underway on the property as a continuation of the previously reported U.S. $2,200,000 work program.
Cornucopia receives gold production from the Ivanhoe property on the Carlin Trend, where it is a co-venturer with Newmont Mining Corp. in the exploration and development of the 84,000-acre property. Cornucopia is listed on The Toronto Stock Exchange (CNP) and is quoted on the NASDAQ Small-Cap Issuers Market (CNPGF).
