COREL ANNOUNCES WABI CERTIFICATION FOR CORELDRAW; NEW CERTIFICATION ALLOWS USERS TO RUN CORELDRAW FOR WINDOWS ON UNIX PLATFORMS

SAN FRANCISCO, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Corel Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: COSFF) announced today Wabi certification for CorelDRAW for Windows, the company's award-winning graphics program. The new Wabi certification will allow Unix users to run shrink-wrapped CorelDRAW for Windows on their Unix systems. Unix users will still be able to purchase native Unix versions of CorelDRAW currently available on the market.
"With Unix versions of CorelDRAW available since 1991, Corel has long believed that Unix is a robust environment for graphics applications," said Dr. Michael Cowpland, president and CEO of Corel Corporation. "With the new WABI interface in place, Corel will be able to seize exciting new opportunities by focusing our development on products instead of platforms. We'll be able to offer the same versatility and power of CorelDRAW for Windows to users of Unix PCs."
CorelDRAW 3 for Windows combines several powerful graphics modules in one comprehensive and easy-to-use program. It includes CorelDRAW, a powerful illustration module, CorelPHOTO-PAINT, a photo-editing and painting module, CorelCHART, a data-driven charting module, and CorelSHOW, a presentation module. The software also includes CorelTRACE, a standalone color/black and white autotracing utility, and CorelMOSAIC, a visual file manager that allows batch importing, exporting and printing. A bonus CD-ROM offers more than 14,000 uncompressed clipart symbols and images, more than 250 TrueType and Type 1 fonts, animation flics, and sample CorelCHART templates, bitmaps, and professionally designed backgrounds.
Incorporated in 1985, Corel Corporation is recognized internationally as an award-winning developer and marketer of PC graphics and SCSI (Small Computer Systems Interface) software. CorelDRAW(TM), Corel's industry leading graphics software is available in fourteen languages and has to date won over 90 international awards from major trade publications. With a network of more than 100 distributors in 40 countries worldwide, Corel is traded on The Toronto Stock Exchange (symbol: COS) and the NASDAQ - National Market System (symbol: COSFF).
