COREL ANNOUNCES CORELSCSI PRO -- THE SOFTWARE TO MAXIMIZE SCSI PERFORMANCE

CHICAGO, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Corel Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: COSFF) today issued the following:
Corel's New SCSI Software Offers Users Advanced Features
and Increased Performance from SCSI Technology
Further securing their position as a leading developer of SCSI (Small Computer Systems Interface) technology, Corel Corporation announced CorelSCSI PRO, SCSI software that allows users to maximize the performance of their SCSI peripherals. Shipping in May 1993, CorelSCSI PRO is positioned as an advanced SCSI software solution and will join the company's current award-winning CorelSCSI software to provide users with two levels of SCSI device support.
"CorelSCSI PRO marks a major advance in the development of SCSI software," said Dr. Michael Cowpland, president and CEO of Corel Corporation. "Our goal with CorelSCSI was to provide an easy to use and comprehensive software solution that allows users of leading ASPI-based SCSI host adapters to connect to all major SCSI peripherals. With CorelSCSI PRO, we have moved on to the next step in SCSI software development -- a solution that allows high end users to optimize their SCSI peripherals with more advanced utilities and enhanced support."
 Pricing and Availability
Corel's strategy is to maintain both products, positioning CorelSCSI PRO as a higher end product with advanced features. Shipping in May, CorelSCSI PRO will carry a suggested list price of US$495 and C$595. Registered users of CorelSCSI version 1.1 can upgrade to CorelSCSI PRO for US $199 and C$249. All upgrades will be available through Corel only.
Positioned as an ideal solution to connect SCSI peripherals, CorelSCSI will continue to have a suggested list price of US$99 and C$119. Corel's SCSI products are available through Corel distributors worldwide.
 CorelSCSI PRO
Building on the success and strength of CorelSCSI, CorelSCSI PRO will include several advanced features:
 CD-ROM Support
-- The ability to write to CD-ROMs using a recordable CD-ROM drive.
-- A powerful and entirely redeveloped CD-ROM server application that allows users to access CD-ROMs on a Novell NetWare 386 file server.
 Scanner Support
-- Support for scanners manufactured by Advanced Vision Research, Canon, Eastman Kodak, Epson America, Fujitsu, Hewlett Packard, Microtek, Ricoh, Sharp, Tamarak and Umax.

-- Device drivers are intelligent -- they automatically determine the attached SCSI devices and reconfigure themselves on bootup.
 Backup Program
-- CorelSCSI PRO includes a comprehensive backup that allows users to backup data to any type of SCSI drive including: hard drives, tape drives, optical drives, and any other drive that supports a drive letter. The backup program includes the following features:
 -- Tape carry over,
-- Backups to and from any logical drive,

 SCSI Software Development Since 1986
Corel is well recognized by industry experts for its role in securing defacto standards for SCSI technology. First released in 1987, Corel's SCSI software has developed parallel with the technology -- first supporting WORM drives, then adding support for magneto and multifunction optical drives, to its present-day solution which encompasses support for all major SCSI devices under DOS, Windows, OS/2, and Novell NetWare 386 file servers. Because of Corel's solid reputation and commitment to SCSI, Corel has enjoyed several alliances with manufacturers of SCSI peripherals and host adapters who choose CorelSCSI to ship with their products. In the last six months, Corel has signed alliance agreements with NCR, Always Technologies, Buslogic, DPT, Future Domain, DTC, Adaptec, Rancho and Acculogic.
