CORE INDUSTRIES PURCHASES GRAIN DRILL BUSINESS

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Core Industries Inc (NYSE: CRI) today announced that one of its farm equipment subsidiaries has purchased the grain drill business of Best Manufacturing, Inc. of Jonesboro, Ark. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The conventional and no-till line of grain drills will be manufactured by Sunflower Manufacturing of Beloit, Kan., and will be sold through farm equipment dealers. This product line strongly complements the tillage products offered by Sunflower. Gerald Meier, Sunflower's President, stated that "The no-till product line, combined with Sunflower's residue management cultivators, allows Sunflower to offer its customers a broad line of products for different approaches to soil conservation."
David R. Zimmer, Core's President, stated "While this product line purchase does not add significantly to Core's consolidated revenues, it will improve Sunflower's competitive position by allowing it to penetrate a market niche not previously covered. This purchase is consistent with Core's previously announced plans to grow the Company not only with internal growth but also with strategic acquisitions."
Core Industries Inc manufactures specialty products for three segments: Electronics, Farm Equipment, and Fluid Controls and Construction Products.
