COORS PURE WATER 2000, FLORIDA DISTRIBUTORS COMMIT TO SECOND YEAR OF ADOPT-A-SHORE PROGRAM; $36,000 GIFT HELPS CONTINUE PROGRAM FOR 1993

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- In reasserting its commitment to a cleaner Florida, Coors Pure Water 2000 and Florida Coors distributors again are joining with Keep Florida Beautiful to co-sponsor the Adopt-A-Shore program.
The partnership was continued with a second-year donation of $36,000 by Coors and its distributors.
To help kick off the 1993 program and donation, Coors Pure Water 2000 is sponsoring 15-20 signed dedications April 17 and April 24 throughout the state to recognize volunteer adopting groups and to increase awareness of the Adopt-A-Shore program.
The Adopt-A-Shore program, one of Keep Florida Beautiful's major undertakings, is designed to keep Florida's lake, river and coastal shores clean and to educate the public about the threat litter presents to wildlife. Shoreline miles are "adopted" by local groups for ongoing clean-up efforts. Floridians can receive information on the Adopt-A- Shore programs by calling the Keep Florida Beautiful/AT&T Enviro Line at 800-828-9338.
"We're proud to be associated with Coors Pure Water 2000," said Frank Walper, executive director of Keep Florida Beautiful. "This continuing sponsorship plays an important role in furthering the private/public partnership which is necessary for Florida's Adopt-A- Shore program to succeed at the grass roots level."
The 1993 sponsorship will recognize adopting groups and educate the public through strategically placed signs and litter receptacles. The signs and receptacles are designed to increase citizen awareness of each person's responsibility to keep shore lines and water ways free of litter.
"Florida is one of our nation's premier states in the continuing fight for clean water," said John Moreau, Coors' division manager for Florida. "We know that our efforts with Keep Florida Beautiful will have a tremendous effect on the beauty of Florida's shores, both for its citizens and the millions of Americans and other travelers that visit the state each year."
Coors Pure Water 2000, begun in 1990, is a national water conservation, preservation and cleanup program. To date, the program has donated more than $1.5 million to grass roots water cleanup organizations and events throughout the country.
