COOPERS & LYBRAND NAMES EUGENE FREEDMAN INTERNATIONAL CHAIRMAN

NEW YORK, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Coopers & Lybrand, the international professional services firm, today announced that its U.S. Chairman, Eugene M. Freedman, assumed the added responsibility of the chairman of Coopers & Lybrand (International) on Jan. 1, 1993, succeeding C. Brandon Gough, chairman of Coopers & Lybrand U.K., who is now also chairman of Coopers & Lybrand Europe.
In its 1992 fiscal year, Coopers & Lybrand (International) had revenues of more than $5.3 billion, an increase of 7.4 percent from fiscal 1991. The firm has more than 67,000 people located in 121 countries around the world.
Commenting on his additional responsibilities, Freedman said, "As our clients increasingly operate in global markets, they need global businesses advisers who can deliver integrated services anywhere in the world. It is our mission to be business advisers with the ability to network multidisciplinary skills and to have a strong global commitment to client care."
Freedman said this is an exciting and challenging time to take on responsibility for leading Coopers & Lybrand (International). "The world continues to change at a rapid pace. New markets are opening up while mature markets are changing in complexity and demand. Our clients face new and difficult issues and we are prepared with the depth and breadth of people and services to meet their needs.
"The firm has made significant strides under the direction of my predecessor, Brandon Gough and I hope to build on his record and position Coopers & Lybrand for the next century as the world's leading professional services firm," Freedman said.
