COOPERS & LYBRAND APPOINTS ROBERT MIKE BIRD
MANAGING PARTNER FOR THE ATLANTA CLIENT SERVICE CLUSTER
NEW YORK, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the firm's new strategic direction, Coopers & Lybrand Chairman Eugene M. Freedman today announced the appointment of Robert Mike Bird as managing partner for the Atlanta client service cluster.
Bird, formerly managing partner of the firm's Memphis office, will now direct firm operations for Coopers & Lybrand offices in five cities: Atlanta, Memphis, Birmingham, Montgomery, and Knoxville.
"Bob's innovativeness and many years of experience with the firm, combined with his outstanding record in client service, make him superbly qualified for this important position," said Freedman.
The firm's new strategy is designed to ensure high quality and efficient delivery of services, Freedman explained. The cluster structure links Coopers & Lybrand offices, promoting a teamwork approach to serving our clients, said Freedman.
Bird's experience with the firm extends over 20 years, during which he has served some of the firm's most important clients in a wide variety of industries. He helped to develop a preemptive approach to auditing, which takes the audit beyond its traditional scope to focus on evaluating operational controls and, ultimately, cost savings.
Bird holds a bachelor of business administration degree from Texas A&M University. He served as treasurer, finance committee chairman and a member of the board of directors of the United Way of Greater Memphis and is currently chairman of the finance committee and member of the board of trustees of St. Agnes Academy/St. Dominic School for Boys. Bird is also on the board of directors for Inroads/Memphis and Free the Children, and a member of the Economic Club of Memphis and Future Memphis.
In the recently announced new strategic direction, Freedman stressed that a strong client focus combined with an orientation to provide excellent client service at all levels will drive the firm into the next century.
Coopers & Lybrand's strategy for the future differentiates the firm from its competitors. In addition to 16 client service clusters, the strategy focuses on five core businesses (Business Assurance, Human Resource Consulting, Performance Improvement, Process Management and Tax) and six core competencies (Business Processes and Quantitative Analysis, Human Resource Development, International, Learning and Strategy, Relationship Management, and Technology).
One of the world's leading professional services firms, Coopers & Lybrand provides solutions for businesses in a wide range of industries. The firm offers its clients the expertise of more than 16,000 professionals and staff in 91 U.S. offices and more than 67,000 people in 121 countries worldwide.
