COOPERS & LYBRAND APPOINTS FRANCIS A. DOYLE MANAGING PARTNER
 FOR BOSTON CLIENT SERVICE CLUSTER
NEW YORK, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the firm's new strategic direction, Coopers & Lybrand Chairman Eugene M. Freedman today announced the appointment of Francis A. Doyle as managing partner for the Boston client service cluster.
Doyle, formerly managing partner of the Boston office, will now direct firm operations in offices in five New England cities: Boston, Springfield, Hartford, Manchester, and Portland.
"Frank is a world-class client-service partner who will energize the firm and ensure that we provide the high-quality service our clients expect," Freedman said. "His talent in building strong client relationships and providing an environment that helps our people to learn and grow will enable us to continue our heritage as the leading accounting firm in New England."
The firm's new strategy is designed to ensure high quality and efficient delivery of services, Freedman explained. The cluster structure links Coopers & Lybrand offices, promoting a teamwork approach to serving our clients, said Freedman.
Doyle has an extensive background in serving some of the firm's most significant clients. Displaying a career-long commitment to client service, Doyle has worked with companies in a wide array of industries and directed the firm's Mergers & Acquisitions group for the past six years.
In his recent position as managing partner for the Boston office -- the firm's third largest office in the world -- Doyle has directed a staff of 1,400 employees, including 90 partners.
Doyle has a bachelor of science degree and a masters in business administration degree from Boston College. He also completed the Executive Development Program at the Amos Tuck School of Dartmouth College.
Doyle is a trustee of the Joslin Diabetes Center and a member of the Fiscal Affairs Committee for the Town of Duxbury. He is also a member of the Fides Executive Committee of Boston College and a board member of the Artery Business Committee and the Massachusetts High Technology Council.
In the recently announced new strategic direction, Freedman stressed that a strong client focus combined with an orientation to provide excellent client service at all levels will lead the firm into the next century.
Coopers & Lybrand's strategy for the future differentiates the firm from its competitors. In addition to 16 client service clusters, the strategy focuses on five core businesses (Business Assurance, Human Resource Consulting, Performance Improvement, Process Management and Tax) and six core competencies (Business Processes and Quantitative Analysis, Human Resource Development, International, Learning and Strategy, Relationship Management, and Technology).
One of the world's leading professional services firms, Coopers & Lybrand provides solutions for businesses in a wide range of industries. The firm offers its clients the expertise of more than 16,000 professionals and staff in 91 U.S. offices and more than 67,000 people in 121 countries worldwide.
