COOPER INDUSTRIES ACQUIRES BRITISH HAWKER FUSEGEAR GROUP OF BTR

 HOUSTON, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Cooper Industries, Inc. (NYSE: CBE) and BTR plc of London announced today that Cooper has acquired the Hawker Fusegear Group of BTR. Cooper did not disclose the terms of the sale.
 The Hawker Fusegear Group, with annual revenues of approximately $39 million (U.S.), is headquartered at Burton-on-the-Wolds in Leicestershire, U.K. and has operations elsewhere. It manufactures a comprehensive range of electrical fuses, as well as related fusegear and connector products.
 Cooper Industries, with 1992 revenues of $6.2 billion, is a diversified, worldwide manufacturer of electrical products, electrical power equipment, tools and hardware, automotive products, and petroleum and industrial equipment.
 BTR plc is a U.K.-based international group with over 1,000 businesses engaged in a variety of industries, including construction, transportation, electrical, energy, industrial and consumer products.
