 COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cooker Restaurant


Corporation (NASDAQ: COKR), headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, today announced a two-for-one split of its common shares in the form of a share for share stock dividend payable to holders of record as of March 20, 1992, payable on April 13, 1992.
 Recently in announcing its fourth quarter 1991 earnings, the Cooker Restaurant Corporation announced its 15th consecutive quarter of record earnings with earnings per share at $.23 compared to $.14 in 1990, an increase of 65.1 percent. Net earnings were $780,000, up 55.1 percent from earnings of $503,000 in the fourth quarter of 1990. Sales for the quarter rose 20.4 percent to $10,610,000 from $8,809,000 a year earlier.
 For 12 months, earnings per share increased 40.1 percent to $.76 from $.54 in 1990. Net earnings increased 33.1 percent to $2,615,000, up from $1,964,000 in 1990. Sales for the 12 months rose 17.0 percent to $39,516,000 from $33,768,000 in 1990.
 "The Cooker Restaurants are growing steadily and this split reflects that growth," according to G. Arthur Seelbinder, Cooker Restaurant Corporation CEO. "There are now 15 Cooker Restaurants in Tennessee, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky, with corporate plans to add another four operations in 1992.

 Demonstrating the "strong bench" that the Cooker Restaurants have developed, Glenn Cockburn was recently promoted from vice president - food services to senior vice president - operations. Peter Kehayes was also promoted from regional manager to director of regional operations, overseeing four regional managers. According to Seelbinder, the Cooker Restaurant Corporation is experiencing an employee retention rate far above industry averages.
