 BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- The directors of


Great Western Financial Corporation (NYSE: GWF) have announced the quarterly dividend of $1.09375 per depositary share, representing one-fifth of a share of its 8-3/4 percent cumulative convertible preferred stock.
 The dividend will be paid May 1, 1992 to stockholders of record on April 15, 1992. The dividend was declared at the board of directors regular meeting March 24.
 With more than $39 billion in assets, Great Western Financial Corporation operates more than 1,000 mortgage lending, retail banking and consumer finance offices nationwide. The company's principal subsidiary, Great Western Bank, is a home-mortgage-oriented consumer bank that operates banking branch networks in California, Florida and Washington.
