CONVENIENCE, AFFORDABILITY AND NOVELTY COMBINE TO MAKE FLOWERS AN APPROPRIATE HOLIDAY GIFT

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Dec. 1 ~PRNewswire~ -- This holiday season, tight budgets, combined with the trend toward simpler, more traditional gifts, make flowers a must for everyone's shopping list. To make it even easier for the harried holiday shopper, this year the Florists' Transworld Delivery Association (FTD(R)) is offering two affordable holiday arrangements that are ideal for "the person who has everything," the casual acquaintance or business associates.
"Trying to find the perfect gift can be very stressful," said Ken Coley, president of FTD. "Most people really appreciate a floral arrangement to brighten up their home or office during the holiday season. We hope the availability of our Holly Basket(R) Bouquet and Brass Horn(tm) Bouquet will take some of the pressure off holiday shoppers by providing a festive and convenient gift."
For a decorative, yet casual gift, FTD offers the Holly Basket Bouquet. Set in a cheerful red bamboo basket with a holly leaf motif, the Holly Basket Bouquet is the perfect blend of red carnations, white mums and an array of holiday greens. For a more formal, elegant gift, FTD offers the Brass Horn Bouquet. A traditional brass horn filled with scarlet tapers and nestled on a bountiful bed of greenery is perfectly complimented by cheery red and white flowers and finished off with an ornate gold bow.
To make ordering even simpler, consumers can call 1-800-370-3737 to request a complimentary color brochure that features both the Holly Basket Bouquet and the Brass Horn Bouquet, as well as all the other holiday arrangements FTD has available.
Both bouquets can be picked up at local FTD florists or are available for local and out-of-town delivery. The Holly Basket is generally available for under $30 and the Brass Horn for under $40.
FTD, headquartered just outside of Detroit in Southfield, Mich., was founded in 1910 by 15 retail florists who agreed to exchange orders for out-of-town floral deliveries, and today is owned and directed by more than 24,000 independent retail member florists in the United States and Canada. In the 1991-92 fiscal year, member florists delivered nearly 20 million FTD flowers-by-wire orders which generated sales of just under $700 million.
