CONTROL YOUR TV WITH VOICE TECHNOLOGY
LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Hal from 2001 never

had to change channels on his television. Voice technology can now control a television set without having to leave the easy chair. Mastervoice Inc., a voice technology company, will demonstrate the use of voice control for infrared television sets at the Summer Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago on May 31.
Controling televisions, VCRs, and sound systems by voice is not new to Mastervoice Inc. who produces a product called Butler-in-a-Box, a home automation system that controls household appliances. "This technology was invented out of a bet," said Gus Searcy, chief executive officer of Mastervoice Inc. "and now other companies are now trying to emulate us."
Unlike other voice technology systems, Mastervoice home automation systems operate at a distance in a hostile noise environment. According to Searcy, most voice technology systems don't work with the television on. Mastervoice Inc. calls their technology "Audiomation."
