CONTRACT FOR 54 PLOTTING SYSTEMS AWARDED TO XEROX ENGINEERING SYSTEMS, ZEH GRAPHICS

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Xerox Engineering Systems and Zeh Graphics have been awarded a five-year contract to supply 54 plotter systems to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) department and the Department of Interior Agencies, it was announced today.
The systems consist of Versatec 8936 color plotters, Sun Microsystems workstations, interface boards, external disks and a full complement of software from Zeh Graphics in Houston. Xerox Engineering Systems will install and train USGS on the use of the hardware and Zeh Graphics will install the software and train operators on its use.
USGS is the coordinator of a multi-agency and private business partnership to completely revamp the government's digital map base by the year 2000. The division is responsible for all quadrangle maps in the Unites States, which include topological, river and vegetation cover maps.
The division selected the package from Xerox Engineering Systems and Zeh Graphics because it offered a total solution at a competitive price, said Ann Vargo, National Accounts Operations Manager, Xerox Engineering Systems.
"An important part of our solution was our configuration creativity," said Vargo. "Working as partners, we were able to provide USGS with a package that meets their software applications and provides them the best possible output for those applications."
All the Versatec plotters are covered under the Xerox Total Satisfaction Guarantee. Under the guarantee, customers decide for themselves whether the product is performing to their satisfaction. If they are not satisfied, Xerox will replace the product with an identical model or a machine with comparable features and capabilities -- up to three years from the date of delivery.
Xerox Engineering Systems is the world's largest supplier of engineering copiers, wide-format printers and fax machines, plotters, associated peripherals, software, conversion services and engineering document management systems.
