 CONTINENTAL UNVEILS 'SPIRIT OF NEWARK';
 EMPLOYEES SALUTE NEWARK WITH AIRCRAFT NAMED IN CITY'S HONOR
 NEWARK, N.J., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Symbolizing its ongoing commitment to the city of Newark and Newark International Airport, Continental Airlines today unveiled one of its MD-80 aircraft emblazoned with "Spirit of Newark" on the side of the fuselage. It is the only aircraft in the Continental fleet dedicated to a city.
 The inspiration for the "Spirit of Newark" came from Continental's Employee Action Group (CEAG), a not-for-profit organization comprised of the airline's 6,400 Newark-based employees which contributed a donation to the project.
 "We are proud of the enthusiasm and pride which our employees take in both the airline and the city. The 'Spirit of Newark' will manifest that pride and enthusiasm each time it lands in another city," said Richard Lisser, city vice president and head of operations at Newark.
 "The response to the idea from my fellow employees was incredible," said Laura Lechynski, CEAG chairwoman. "We are proud of our Newark base and wanted to send that message to employees and customers throughout the system."
 "The company was extremely supportive of the idea and we hope that each city to which the 'Spirit of Newark' flies will see firsthand Newark's pride and spirit," she added.
 Continental Airlines is Newark International Airport's largest carrier moving nearly 10.5 million passengers, annually, through Terminal C on its 265 daily jet and commuter flights. The airline currently flies to 68 destinations from Newark.
