CONTINENTAL TO INTRODUCE COMPETITIVE FARE STRUCTURE, LEVELS
HOUSTON, April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Continental Airlines (AMEX: CTA) today announced that it will be competitive with American Airlines and simplify its fare structure on competing routes.
"In addition to implementing a comparable fare structure in competing markets, we will initially match the fare levels for competitive reasons," a spokesman said. "Meanwhile, Continental will continue its economic analysis to see if the new fare levels make sense for us in the long term. We may implement our own fare levels -- higher or lower, depending on the market -- at a later date."
Continental will also adopt certain new fare rules on a competitive basis. Seven and 21-day advance purchase tickets will be nonrefundable. But, beginning within the next several days, changes to domestic tickets may be made for a $25 fee.
