CONTINENTAL AIRLINES ASSISTS HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORT
MIAMI, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Having transported in excess of 50

tons of relief supplies to south Florida since the end of Hurricane Andrew, Continental Airlines today announced that it will further assist in the hurricane relief effort by waiving advance purchase requirements for evacuating families from Miami, as well as for relief volunteers and other public service personnel traveling to Miami.
Additionally, the airline's CRS subsidiary, System One, has established an assistance program for more than 650 travel agencies in South Florida, Central Louisiana, and the Bahamas which will defray the automation costs for agencies whose businesses have been damaged or severely impacted by the storm.
"Members of Continental's own family have been impacted by this storm, and we are sensitive to the plight of all those who face the challenge of rebuilding their homes and their businesses without having even basic utilities at their disposal," said Continental's regional sales manager, Lourdes Perez. "We hope that our efforts, as insignificant as they may be in the face of tremendous tragedy, will help lessen the hardship faced by South Floridians."
Continental has waived the 14-day advance purchase requirement on its lowest fare categories to allow immediate departures from Miami for evacuees, and to facilitate travel for relief volunteers destined for Miami. Other fare rules apply, including the requirement to obtain a round-trip booking in the appropriate class of service (e.g. Q, V or B, depending on the particular fare), and to stay a Saturday night at the destination. The airline also announced that customers ticketed for travel to or from Miami on or before Sept. 5, 1992 may obtain refunds or make changes without penalty through Sept. 8, 1992.
