Byline: Daily News

NEWHALL -- Cats and dogs available for adoption will be at the Oct. 15 Bow-Wows & Meows Pet Fair at Hart Park.

The free fair also will include vendors that sell items for pets, information booths devoted to education.

Bow-Wows & Meows will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park, 24151 N. San Fernando Road, Newhall. Last year's event drew thousands and resulted in the adoption of more than 100 dogs and cats from local shelters.

The Fun Dog Show will feature competitions in quirky categories such as Biggest/Smallest, Best Vocalist, Longest Tail/Largest Ears, Mystery Mutt, Most Spots, Most Physically Challenged, Silly Pet Trick, Owner/Pet Look-Alike and more. There is a $10 entry fee and winners will receive a $50 gift certificate from Pet Supply in Saugus.

The fair also will host a pet psychic, a low-cost vaccine clinic, a photographer and a performance by a stunt dog team. There also will be a Kids Zone for family fun, food, raffles and giveaways.

All proceeds will go to Bow-Wows & Meows, a nonprofit organization devoted to finding homes for pets. For information about Bow-Wows & Meows, call (661) 297-5961 or visit www.bowwowsandmeows.org.
