CONSUMERS POWER VICE PRESIDENT ELECTED TO WILDLIFE ENHANCEMENT BOARD

 JACKSON, Mich., Nov. 25 ~PRNewswire~ -- Robert J. Nicholson, Consumers Power Company's vice president of fossil and hydroelectric operations, has been elected to the board of directors of the Wildlife Habitat Enhancement Council (WHEC) based in Washington, D.C.
 The Wildlife Habitat Enhancement Council is a non-profit, non- lobbying group of individuals, conservation organizations and corporations dedicated to the enhancement and preservation of wildlife habitat. Consumers Power was the first major utility to join WHEC shortly after its formation in 1988.
 Nicholson was elected to a two-year term on the WHEC board of directors at its annual meeting last week in Washington, D.C. He is also a member of the Edison Electric Institute's Global Climate Issue Group, and served as a member of the Acid Rain Advisory Committee to the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington.
 Nicholson is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Consumers Power's coal-, gas- and oil-fired power plants and hydroelectric generating dams. Under his direction, the utility's major electric generating units have been recognized by Michigan's governor and State Legislature for efforts in promoting wildlife habitat and protecting, maintaining and enhancing the natural resources of Michigan.
 Nicholson joined Consumers Power in 1971. He earned a master of business administration degree in 1966 and a bachelor of science degree in economics in 1965 from Oklahoma State University.
 Consumers Power Company, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy Corporation (NYSE: CMS), is Michigan's largest natural gas and electric utility serving almost 6 million of the state's 9 million residents in 67 of the 68 Lower Peninsula counties.
