CONSUMERS POWER OFFERS GIFT OF ENERGY PROGRAM
CONSUMERS POWER OFFERS GIFT OF ENERGY PROGRAM JACKSON, Mich., Nov. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- As holiday time rapidly
approaches, Consumers Power Company is offering a practical gift for hard-to-buy-for people: a gift of energy.
The utility's Gift of Energy program, which began in 1986, has been made more customer-friendly this year. This year gift buyers can purchase certificates representing energy purchases of $10, $25, or $50 at Consumers Power Company offices. Gift of Energy certificates can be purchased by either individuals or organizations, including businesses. The certificates are redeemable as payment for electricity or natural gas service supplied by Consumers Power. "While this is a great way for an individual to buy a practical gift for a relative or friend, this revised program is also a helpful resource for churches or assistance agencies which want to help low- income utility customers," said Carl L. English, vice president of energy distribution services for Consumers Power. For example, said English, schools can purchase certificates at a Consumers Power office for neighboring senior citizens as part of holiday charitable project. Consumers Power Company, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy Corporation (NYSE: CMS), is Michigan's largest utility serving almost 6 million of the state's 9 million residents in 67 of the 68 Lower Peninsula counties. -0- 11/22/91 /CONTACT: Charles MacInnis of Consumers Power Co., 517-788-0333/ (CMS) CO: Consumers Power Company; CMS Energy Corporation ST: Michigan IN: UTI SU: ML -- DE001 -- 6230 11/22/91 08:11 EST
