CONSUMERS POWER COMPANY DELIVERS RECORD NATURAL GAS VOLUME IN 1993

 JACKSON, Mich., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumers Power Company in 1993 delivered the largest volume of natural gas in its 107-year history -- a record 410.6 billion cubic feet (Bcf), 6.9 percent higher than 1992 gas deliveries.
 Gas deliveries to Consumers Power's sales and transportation customers increased by 4.7 percent in 1993, compared to 1992, while deliveries to the Midland Cogeneration Venture increased by 15.4 percent last year. Approximately 23 Bcf were transported for other gas distribution companies in 1993, compared to 20 Bcf in 1992.

Morris, the utility's chief operating officer.
 Consumers Power Company, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy Corporation (NYSE: CMS), is Michigan's largest natural gas and electric utility serving 6 million of the state's 9 1/2 million residents in 67 of the 68 Lower Peninsula counties. It is the nation's seventh largest gas distribution utility serving 215 cities and villages including suburban Detroit, Bay City, Flint, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Pontiac and Saginaw in 40 of the 68 Lower Peninsula counties.
