CONSOLIDATED STORES REPORTED OCTOBER SALES ROSE 23.5 PERCENT
AND SALES IN COMPARABLE STORES ROSE 12.5 PERCENT
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Consolidated Stores Corporation (NYSE: CNS) today reported that for the month ended Nov. 2, 1991 retail sales totaled $78.4 million, up 23.5 percent from $63.5 million a year earlier. Consolidated Stores also reported that sales for comparable stores open at least two years rose 12.5 percent in October. William G. Kelley, chairman and CEO stated, "Sales for October exceeded our expectations, and we were very pleased with our comparable sales results which came on top of a 12.5 percent gain incomparable sales last year."
Retail sales for the nine months of fiscal 1991 were $506.3 million, up 11.8 percent from $452.9 million a year earlier. Comparable sales increases for the third quarter and nine months were 2.3 percent and 5.9 percent, respectively.
