CONSOLIDATED NATURAL GAS SELLS $150 MILLION OF 6-5/8% DEBENTURES

 PITTSBURGH, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire -- Consolidated Natural Gas Company (NYSE: CNG) today announced the sale of $150 million of 6-5/8 percent debentures due December 2013. The debentures are noncallable.
 The issue was won by underwriter Goldman, Sachs & Co., at an annual cost of money to the company of 6.76 percent.
 The proceeds from the sale will be used principally to reduce short- term debt incurred to redeem higher cost debentures earlier this year.
 Consolidated is one of the country's largest producers, transporters and distributors of natural gas. Its primary marketing areas for natural gas are in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, New York and other states in the Northeast. The company explores for and produces gas and oil throughout the United States and in Canada.
