CONSILIUM ANNOUNCES FIRST QUARTER RESULTS

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Consilium Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIM), the leading supplier of manufacturing execution systems (MES) software and services, today announced that revenues for its first quarter of fiscal 1993, ended Jan. 31, 1993, were $6,012,000, down slightly from revenues of $6,207,000 for the same period a year ago. The quarter's net loss was $1,662,000, or 24 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $790,000, or 12 cents per share.
According to Thomas Tomasetti, Consilium's president and chief executive officer, "We are encouraged by the interest expressed by targeted manufacturers who are selecting both FlowStream and WorkStream Open before full production versions of the products are released. Meanwhile, the transition from having a single product on a proprietary operating system to developing and supporting two products on new standards-based technology is taking longer than we anticipated. However, we remain confident that our strategy is the right one because our product set, when completed, will be unmatched by any of our competitors."
 Sales Highlights
During the first quarter, the earliest version of WorkStream Open was sold to AMCC, a San Diego-based semiconductor manufacturer. New sales of WorkStream software were made to a U.S. aircraft engine manufacturer; Cockerill, a Belgian steel company; a French electronics company; and a Japanese semiconductor company. WorkStream add-ons or upgrades were sold to National Semiconductor, the Du Pont Co., and two German companies, Thesys and Wacker Siltronic.
Consilium Inc. is the leading supplier of manufacturing execution systems software and services. With its WorkStream and FlowStream product lines, Consilium offers solutions that address key manufacturing issues, including regulatory compliance, quality control and continuous improvement, leading to World Class Manufacturing. The company is headquartered in Mountain View.
