CONSILIUM, ITP SYSTEMS TO PROVIDE COMPLETE AUTOMATION SOLUTION FOR SEMICONDUCTOR MANUFACTURERS; JOINT MARKETING AGREEMENT SIGNED

SAN FRANCISCO, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Consilium Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIM), the leading supplier of manufacturing execution systems (MES) software, today announced an agreement with ITP Systems, one of the leading independent manufacturing systems integrators in the United States and Europe, for joint marketing and delivery in the semiconductor industry. Under the agreement, Consilium and ITP will together provide a complete manufacturing automation solution to semiconductor manufacturers in the United States, Canada and Europe. The joint offering consists of Consilium's next-generation automation products and ITP's professional value-added implementation services. This integrated solution strategy will significantly reduce risk and implementation time and lower total cost of ownership for customers.
"ITP's semiconductor industry experience, implementation methods and utilities give Consilium the ability to satisfy our customers' need for implementation and integration services," said Peter Rieman, vice president, Discrete Products Division for Consilium. "ITP's record of success in the semiconductor industry and its extensive relationship with the industry consortium, SEMATECH, make them an extremely valuable partner. ITP is simply the delivery vehicle we have been missing."
Customers will benefit from the ready availability of integrated automation solutions provided by the most successful MES software and automation services providers to the semiconductor market. Moreover, these joint solutions are designed to be extendible and reusable across multiple facilities. This integrated approach will also afford users the opportunity to leverage existing automation investments with advanced technology in an eclectic and incremental fashion. In addition, both Consilium and ITP expect this strategic, complementary alignment will give each company market opportunities which could not be achieved individually.
"Consilium has the largest market presence and installed base of any MES provider, and has historically been strongest in the semiconductor industry," said Jim Macek, vice president and semiconductor practice area leader for ITP. "Their new open systems products and evolutionary systems strategy for automation demonstrate a clear, ongoing commitment to semiconductor manufacturers. This strategic partnership with Consilium provides ITP a powerful channel into the market."
Jointly, the companies have targeted the semiconductor market which includes existing customers of one or both of the two companies. Consilium and ITP will be preferred and strategic partners with shared responsibility for the development and management of this market in the United States, Canada and Europe. The companies have also committed to a single- point-of-contact approach to afford customers a choice to contact either party with the assurance that their issues will be quickly addressed, appropriate resources applied and service provided in a seamless fashion.
