CONSENT DECREE ENTERED IN FDA SEIZURE OF QUANTITIES OF
 SKIN CREAM AND RELATED ARTICLES
BOSTON, March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- US Attorney Wayne A. Budd announced that a consent decree has been entered in an action involving the seizure of a quantity of skin cream in Canton and Haverhill.
The articles, seized on Feb. 20, 1991, were produced by Interpro, Inc. The consent decree condemns the seized articles, Multi Shield Commercial, Ivy Shield and Dermaffin, as misbranded new drugs that could not be introduced into interstate commerce. The decree orders Interpro, Inc. to destroy the articles, under the supervision of representatives of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Other seized articles, known as "Optitex 8" and "Optitex 12" are required to be held until released by HHS representatives for re-exportation to the country of origin.
The case was investigated by agents from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and was prosecuted by Susan M. Poswistilo, an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Budd's Civil Enforcement and Defense Bureau.
