 BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Conrad Hotels, the international subsidiary of Hilton Hotels Corp., today announced plans for three new luxury hotels in Asia: the 700-room Conrad Jakarta, 600-room Conrad Kuala Lumpur, and 321-room Conrad Surabaya. All are scheduled for opening by 1997.
 In Jakarta, Conrad will manage and operate the hotel, with its parent corporation having a 10 percent equity interest in the $229 million property. The project is being developed by PT Jakarta International Hotels and Development.
 The hotel, a focal point of the master-planned 111-acre Sudirman Central Business District, will feature gourmet restaurants, lounges, seven meeting rooms accommodating 15 to 100 people each, a 1,500-person capacity ballroom, health club, swimming pool and special executive floors.
 Located adjacent to the area that will accommodate the new Jakarta Stock Exchange and close to the recently expanded Jakarta Convention Hall, the Conrad Jakarta will also be convenient to the shops, offices theaters and restaurants planned for the Sudirman development. It is also just 19 miles from Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The initial stages of the Sudirman project started in 1992, with completion scheduled for 2007.
 The Conrad Kuala Lumpur is planned as a five-star luxury property that will attract business travelers from throughout the world. It is located in Capital Square, a mixed-use development with offices, shopping and residential apartments, and in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's thriving business district.
 Gourmet restaurants offering Japanese, Chinese and Italian cuisine; 16 meeting rooms accommodating from 50 to 115 people, a 2,000-person capacity ballroom; luxury suites; health club, and swimming pool will be featured amenities of the Conrad Kuala Lumpur. It is a 30-minute drive from Subang and Sepang International Airports.
 Designed by the world-renowned architect John Portman, the hotel will be managed by Conrad Hotels and is being developed by Bandar Raya Developments, a subsidiary of Malaysian conglomerate Multi-Purpose Holdings. Opening is planned for 1996.
 Located in Indonesia's second-largest city, the Conrad Surabaya is the anchor project of a multipurpose complex that will also include residential, commercial, recreational and retail areas, as well as office towers. The hotel will feature specialty restaurants, executive floors, a full-service business center, 2,000-person capacity ballroom, extensive meeting and conference facilities, swimming pool, tennis courts and a health club. It is 11 miles from the area's main airport and within two miles of the central business district.
 Developed by PT Wisma Hartono Jaya, the Conrad Surabaya is master- planned for future expansion of up to 600 total rooms.

 The three new properties represent Conrad's latest and single-most expansive entry into Asia; the 513-room Conrad Hong Kong opened in 1990.
 Conrad also operates properties in London; Dublin; Ireland; Brussels; the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia; Istanbul, Turkey; and St. Martin in the Caribbean (La Belle Creole). The Gold Coast and Istanbul properties are hotel-casinos. Conrad hotel-casino properties are also in development in Brisbane, Australia, and Punta del Este, Uruguay.
