CONQUEST AIRLINES COMMENCES NON-STOP SERVICE FROM BIRMINGHAM TO KNOXVILLE AND CHARLESTON; DOUBLES FLEET SIZE TO 12 AIRCRAFT

AUSTIN, Texas, May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Conquest Airlines Corp. (NASDAQ: CAIR) will begin daily non-stop service from Birmingham, Ala., to Knoxville, Tenn., and Charleston, S.C., starting June 14, 1993. These routes are in addition to the non-stop service to Mobile, Ala., Little Rock, Ark., and Greenville/Spartanburg, S.C., which begin May 17, 1993, from Conquest's new Birmingham base, and double the fleet size from six to 12 aircraft, Victor M. Rivas, chairman and chief executive officer, announced today.
"No other airline offers non-stop service to any of these cities from Birmingham and, in fact, Conquest now offers more non-stop flights out of Birmingham than any other carrier," stated Mr. Rivas. "With the addition of these initial five cities to be served by Conquest's new Birmingham base, as well as nine Texas cities served by our main base in Austin, Texas, Conquest Airlines will be servicing a total of 14 cities in the Southeast offering approximately 90 daily non-stop flights," added Mr. Rivas.
"Conquest's flight schedules are arranged for the convenience of the business traveler," noted John Walters, Conquest president. "It usually takes just 60-90 minutes for our passengers to arrive at their destinations. This scheduling allows business travelers to fly to their destination in the morning, complete a full day of business, and return that evening. Not only do passengers save significantly on travel time, but they avoid the additional expense of an overnight stay," added Mr. Walters.
Three daily non-stop flights are scheduled to serve both the Knoxville and Charleston markets. Conquest begins operation May 17 at the Birmingham Airport with four daily non-stop flights to Mobile, three daily non-stop flights to Little Rock, and three daily non-stop flights to Greenville/Spartanburg.
Conquest Airlines, Inc., with headquarters in Austin, was established in 1988. The company operates a fleet of Fairchild Metro III twin turboprop, fully pressurized 19-seat aircraft with a cruising speed of 300 mph.
