CONOWINGO POND LEVEL STABILIZES TO ALLOW BOATING ACTIVITIES

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Philadelphia Electric Company (NYSE: PE) (PECO) said the water level in the Conowingo Pond has stabilized to support boating activities.
Although river flow still remains low, increased spills from upriver dams and some recent rain have restored the pond in the lower Susquehanna River above Conowingo Dam to recreational level.
PECO said the pond level was consistently low, under the recreational level, for portions of three weeks.
Boat ramps at Peach Bottom, Glen Cove, and from Conowingo Creek, are accessible once again. The Dorsey Park Boat Launch, adjacent to PECO's Peach Bottom power plant in York County, Pa., also is open.
PECO said the desired recreation level is 106.5, and the company expects the level to stay above the mark through the weekend. Yesterday's river flow at Conowingo was 7,800 cubic feet per second (cfs). River flow on Friday is less than 6,000 cfs, still well below flows needed to ensure constant recreational levels.
