 CONNECTICUT ACTION SURPRISES NU SKIN OFFICIALS
 PROVO, Utah, Jan. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Just moments after the


successful completion of consumer and regulatory reviews in Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Illinois was announced by state officials and company officers, the state of Connecticut disclosed its intent to pursue legal remedies in its review of Nu Skin International.
 "On the heels of the most extensive review in our corporation's history by five other states, we are surprised by Connecticut's announcement. But we firmly believe a thorough examination in the courts will clearly show Nu Skin is within the spirit and letter of all Connecticut laws," said Nu Skin Executive Vice President Steven J. Lund.
 Lund said Nu Skin International has always maintained an open policy with regulators and has provided Connecticut with all information they have requested. "Aside from the Connecticut announcement, we are delighted today at the favorable resolution in five states and are optimistic that Connecticut's concerns can also quickly be resolved."
 "We will vigorously defend Nu Skin's marketing practices on all points. We have been operating successfully in Connecticut for more than six years. Needless to say, the announcement comes as a surprise," said Lund.
 Founded a little more than eight years ago, Nu Skin International has built its future on strong corporate ethics and consumer protection, he said.
 "Nu Skin recently sent a letter to every distributor in the country inviting them to return any unused products or sales aids for a 90 percent refund, regardless of how long they have had the product. We have also implemented extensive monitoring requirements to ensure fair and ethical business practices on the part of our independent distributors," Lund explained.
 Nu Skin was found in June 1984 and is a member in good standing of the Direct Selling Association (DSA) in Washington. The DSA accepted Nu Skin International as a member after a year of extensive review of ethics and legality of its marketing practices.
 Nu Skin employs approximately 2,400 people in the United States, Canada, Hong Kong and Taiwan who support more than 100,000 independent distributors.
 Nu Skin produces and distributes nearly 60 premium-quality hair care, skin care and nutritional products. The company recently opened a 200,000 square-foot distribution facility in Provo, at a cost of $8 million. In February, the company plans to move into its new 10-story office complex in Provo.
 Despite steady growth, the company remains debt free.
