CONCURRENT COMPUTER FEELS JAPANESE MARKETS OPEN
FOR SUPERIOR PRODUCTS, AIDED BY JOINT VENTURES
New Jersey-made computers are being exported to Japan for use by companies such as Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi Heavy Industry and Electronics, and Japan's commodities exchange. While Japanese and American leaders are taking shots at each other, Concurrent Computer Corporation, based in Oceanport N.J., has been exporting high- performance real-time computer systems which offer the Japanese something they can't refuse: superior performance and overall system value, marketed through a joint venture with Nippon Steel.
With the Japan/U.S. debate still raging, Denis Brown, chairman, president and CEO of Concurrent, is available to provide media with a successful example of a U.S. high-technology company exporting products to Japan...even automobile manufacturers (Note: Concurrent also produces systems for Ford in the United States and Rolls Royce in the United Kingdom). Brown would be glad to comment on:
-- How Concurrent broke into the Japanese market
-- How it manages current relationships
-- How the joint venture with Nippon Steel helped open doors
-- Why the joint venture continues to post profits
-- Japanese customers' perceptions of Concurrent's technology
 -- Current challenges
-- Specific product applications in Japan, Hong Kong and elsewhere.
 -- Its future in Japan
At a time when Japanese businesses are complaining about U.S. quality, and U.S. manufacturers are complaining about access to Japanese markets, its ironic that New Jersey-made computers are finding their way into Japan. Concurrent's success in Japan makes an excellent story on its own, or as part of a larger story on the continuing saga of U.S./Japan trade relationships. Members of the media should call if interested in speaking with Brown.
