CONCENTRIC LAUNCHES DAC LINE OF NEUROVASCULAR CATHETERS.
The original DAC catheter was launched in August 2008 as a distal access, support and delivery device for use in Merci Retriever procedures. The original product quickly gained favor in both Merci procedures and general neurovascular procedures. With this launch, Concentric expands the family of DAC catheters to include a full range of diameters and lengths.
Stanley L. Barnwell, M.D., Ph.D., Medical Director of Interventional Neuroradiology at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon, said, "The DAC family of catheters provides access to parts of the neuroanatomy previously only accessible with smaller microcatheters. Their large inner diameters allow for the delivery of a variety of tools and therapies into the neurovasculature. I have found them to be particularly useful for support during intracranial angioplasty and stenting, and revascularization of acutely occluded arteries in the setting of acute stroke."
Maria Sainz, president and CEO of Concentric Medical, said, "We are very excited to bring a full family of neurovascular devices to the market. New product introductions have driven our success in the last year. Stroke remains an area of huge unmet need, and new technology brings significant value to clinicians caring for stroke patients. This recent launch caps a year of accelerated innovation at Concentric; over 70% of our sales in 2009 have been generated by products released within the last 12 months."
